Is Online Casino Roulette Random?
Many online casino players don’t realize how varied one online casino roulette game can be from the next. It’s not just the number of digits on the roulette wheel. Some online roulette versions use European rules. This is called la port.
When this European version is used, then the house advantage for all even money bets falls by half. Most casinos offer a reduced house advantage when a player uses a version of European casino roulette. There are many online roulette games available to choose from; however, they still all follow the same rules of classic roulette games. Blackjack, craps and baccarat are the most popular casino roulette games. In fact there are roulette versions of all three games offered online.
Roulette has been a favorite game among aristocratic groups for centuries. It originated in Europe but it has now become a universal game. In America, too, it became popular around the same time the gold rush happened in the United States. Many of the early online casinos started offering roulette variations that had the look and feel of the traditional European roulette games.
In order to set these online casinos up, they needed a method of random number generation. Originally this was based on what was then called “stroke machines”. Early attempts at digital random number generation were unsatisfactory; so later designers started working on real random number generators. Today we know these generators as “RNGs”, or random number generators. The random number generators or the RNGs that are used in online casinos function in a way that allows them to create numbers such as the winning numbers for roulette spins. For many years programmers have been trying to make roulette more random, but they have not yet found a way to completely randomize the outcome of the game.
Today’s random number generators take a slightly different approach than the earlier machines, designed to be more random by using even though random number generators with even number seed probabilities will not create the exact numbers that will win. Instead, these generators will use a weighted random number generator that gives a slightly higher probability for certain numbers when it is picked. But in order for roulette to be truly random, the game must have a random number sequence that is generated by an element of chance, without relying on any element of chance that is outside of the user’s control.
Roulette is not completely random, because it is influenced by factors other than the actual spins. Even the smallest of those factors can create slight differences in the final outcomes of individual spins. This is why, in spite of what some claim, a roulette player is “just” playing a game, and that there are no powers beyond the player that determine the results. If one were to win all the spins, then they would still be playing the game, and the underlying randomness of the game would still be in play. The difference is that they won’t know what that “one more spin” will be, so the outcome will remain unpredictable.
